“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
~ Marilyn Monroe
Everything in your life has a purpose. There is a reason for it all. Nothing happens to you – it all happens for you. At times this isn’t easy to see or accept and especially in those moments when dealing with something unwanted, difficult, or what you may perceive as “bad.” And if you are anything like me, you likely start asking the question, WHY. Why me? Why now? Why is this happening? Why not that instead of this? You get the idea…add your own ending to the WHY…
But everything coming to you is on purpose. Trust there is a reason for it. We are presented with situations and face certain circumstances to learn from them. This is our life journey. And it’s all meant to be happening just the way it is!
Nothing happens to you because you deserve it, earned it, nor are you being tested. You are presented with every person and situation in your life to see it for what it is and rise above it. This is how we grow and evolve. If you can see everything as a lesson and accept it is happening for your benefit, you will likely not encounter it again. And that is where your personal growth comes from.
But, if you damn it, get angry, upset, play the victim, or etc., the likelihood of facing that lesson again is much greater. Or maybe you made the incorrect decision or took the wrong path. No worries – that same decision or crossroads will present itself again and if you’re ready, you’ll choose differently. And if not, that’s ok too. Maybe next time. Your chances are endless. Each chance is an opportunity to do better and be better. The same lesson will continue to present itself until the lesson is learned.
When things happen in life, breathe and remember this is happening on purpose. This is an opportunity for you; not an obstacle. Take a step back and see what is happening from a third person perspective. Think about the lesson that is attempting to be taught.
Nothing is an accident or happens because of a coincidence. Everything has purpose and the time in which it occurs is orchestrated perfectly too. Trusting there is a purpose for everything means trusting in the timing as well. Doing so helps you to accept what is happening instead of trying to change or control it. Everything has brought you to this moment in your life. Yes, to this exact moment you are reading this post. All the “good” and all the “bad” was meant for you. The things, people and experiences that are meant for you to experience are never a second late or a minute too early. Remember, life happens for us – not to us.
Hopefully, when you look back to the moments of your life that have brought you to where you are today, you are able to see the trail of puzzle pieces. And you’re able to see how piece by piece how they have connected to evolve into the beautiful picture you call life today. This is your journey and it’s all on purpose!
